The Local Court of Halle (Saale) opened insolvency proceedings for the assets of WMB Werkzeugmaschinenbau Halle GmbH ("WMB") by order dated March 1, 2024 and appointed DiLigens partner and lawyer Thomas Reichelt as trustee.

The management of WMB, which has production sites in Halle and Landsberg, applied for the opening of protective shield proceedings in self-administration on January 9, 2025. By order dated 16.01.2025, the Local Court of Halle ordered provisional self-administration.

This means that the management of WMB will continue to conduct its business without restriction under the supervision of the administrator appointed by the insolvency court. WMB is being supported by the law firm Eisner Rechtsanwälte GmbH under the leadership of attorney Dr. Renald Metjoa and attorney Stephanie Baumann in implementing the special features of insolvency law.

Business operations were already stabilized during the provisional self-administration proceedings thanks to the support of customers and suppliers. The planned operating results for the period from January to March 2025 were even slightly exceeded. WMB is to be finally restructured as part of an insolvency plan.

"Following the smooth progress of the self-administration proceedings so far, the chances of successfully continuing to implement the restructuring measures that have been initiated are good," says Thomas Reichelt, lawyer and specialist lawyer for insolvency and restructuring law.
